I have found that classroom management should incorporate classroom/teacher's expectations. Teachers must have expectations for their students. These expectations need to be visible to students. They must be reminded of them daily. I have not seen any expectations posted in the classrooms. But, I see the consequence chart posted everywhere.

i've used the 6 rules of "be respectful, be safe, be kind, etc..." which are posted in the room of each 4th grade class....are they too broad?
I don't think that they are too broad at all. I call mine the Give Me 5. I blend the hand five with the Give Me 5 and the expectations. Part of the reason I like the Give Me 5 is that they are all encompassing. They cover just about every rule, policy and pet peeve in one shape or form.
For what it is worth... I have seen both Katie and Kris work in their classrooms and they both do an excellent job. Perhaps if someone is struggling they may want to brainstorm with them or other peers including a request for peer observation for feedback.
Thanks Jackie :)
